Jakhama Town Youth celebrated its silver jubilee Friday at Jakhama local ground with parliamentary secretary for law & justice & land revenue, Dr Nicky Kire as chief guest and parliamentary secretary for housing NPWD & treasuries & accounts, Er Vikho-o Yhoshu as the guest of honour.
Dr Nicky Kire in his address lauded the pioneers and elders for their hard work and congratulated the youths for attaining 25 years. He said that jubilee was not only a time for celebration but a time for retrospection as “we continue to surge ahead.”
He said that Jakhama has its own administrative circle and a good college and urged the youths to maintain proper sanitation, cleanliness, sufficient water supply and other basic amenities. Dr. Nicky asked them to adopt rules and regulations for people coming from outside by giving them proper dos and don’ts.
Pointing out that the Nagaland has been declared as the Amur falcon capital, Dr Nicky called upon the youths to protect and preserve flora and fauna thereby attracting more tourists in the future. Earlier, he also released the silver jubilee souvenir.
Other highlights of the programme included presidential address by Kikovi Kirha, traditional dance by tribal welfare association, general secretary report by Nozosal Zhotso, greetings by JTC Chairman, Tepuhopi Richa, folk song by Nolehole & Zehovonu and special number by Keniprazhu & party.
